RTP Credit Union is searching for an Accounting Director to work in its Corporate Office in the Raleigh-Durham area. The Accounting Director is responsible for the management of the Accounting Department and Operations Support Team, which includes monitoring the cash letter process, loan scanning, and card services.

We are looking for a self-motivated individual with a team-player mentality who can perform duties without supervision. This individual must have excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects. The Accounting Director will ensure financial reporting is in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and National Credit Union Administration regulations.
- Month-end closing and reporting, including the preparation of financial statements and reports for the President and the Board of Directors.
- Monitoring credit union liquidity and transferring funds between short-term investments as needed.
- Managing the general ledger and reviewing month-end reconciliations.
- Ensuring financial statements are accurate and internal controls are in place.
- Participating in the annual budget process and formulation of the business plan.
- Preparing regulatory reports and assisting in the annual audits and regulatory examinations.
- Reviewing and/or processing transactions, taxes, and reports for biweekly payrolls.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting preferred or the equivalent combination of education and financial accounting experience.
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory and accounting experience.
- Excellent understanding of the general ledger, financial accounting, and a general understanding of investment principles pertaining to financial institutions.
- Credit Union or banking experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of card services and/or back office operations of a financial institution are a plus.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Excel, and Word is a must.
