Morgan Creek is seeking a student to work as a part-time accounting intern in its Chapel Hill office for an
extended internship, ideally between six and eighteen months.
The candidate will be assisting the finance department for approximately 15-20 hours per week. The hours
are likely to be variable, increasing at times to 25-30 hours. A primary driver of this will likely be finance
and accounting related projects, such as preparing or reviewing spreadsheet models including consolidated
financial statements (quarterly).
We seek a candidate who can work daily, Monday through Friday. We strongly prefer someone who is
available between the hours of 10:00 am and 4:00 pm, but can be somewhat flexible to accommodate
class schedules. Given the current global pandemic situation, this position will be fully remote for the
immediate future.
Responsibilities/Duties:
Finance and Accounting
Assisting in preparing or reviewing various reconciliations, analysis and models. Examples include
general ledger account reconciliations, consolidation work papers, financial statements and analysis,
cost center, division and /or natural account budgets, and budget reporting.
Entering and paying bills in accounting system and online banking account
Assisting with routine journal entries
Gathering and/or preparing various supporting documents for use by the external auditors for the
broker/dealer entity
Assisting with vendor filing and travel expense report entering into QuickBooks accounting system
Other duties and special projects as they arise
Skills and Experience
The candidate must be reliable, responsive, with a professional and positive demeanor, high degree of
maturity and keen attention to detail. Undergraduate business or accounting experience is preferred as is
experience in other professional work environments. Strong Excel skills are highly desired.
Rate = $20/hour
