Blackman & Sloop CPAs is currently seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee the operations of our Business Services division. This position will supervise staff and report directly to one of our senior personnel. The successful candidate will have proven experience in a similar role at a CPA firm or in private industry, strong knowledge of general accounting/bookkeeping practices, experience with management of direct reports and advanced knowledge of accounting related software.
Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the daily operations of the business services/advisory department
- Oversee month-end and year-end closing process for multiple clients/companies
- Review accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, payroll and utilities, treasury, budgeting, cash forecasting, revenue and expenditure variance analysis, capital assets reconciliations, trust account statement reconciliations, check runs, fixed asset activity, debt activity etc
- Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements
- Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies and principles
- Provide recommendations to clients concerning accounting practices and methodology
- Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions
- Assign projects and direct staff to ensure compliance and accuracy
- Guide the business services/advisory team to meet specified accounting objectives
Qualifications
- 4+ years working experience as an Accounting Manager or similar title
- Prior CPA firm experience preferred
- Advanced computer skills on MS Office, Quickbooks, and other accounting software/databases
- Knowledge of accounting software systems and implementation of such systems
- Ability to manipulate large amounts of data
- Proven knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Proven ability to direct and supervise staff
- BS degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA designation is preferred
- Positive attitude and sense of humor are musts!
